These limited opportunities focus on enrichment items designed for some of our largest residents. This month we're focusing on bison! Guests who purchase one of these Hay Play Feeders will be invited to see it in action when we give it to our bison! Plus you'll meet one of our zookeepers, who will share how this enrichment supports the bison’s health and natural behaviors.

Why 'Hay Play' is important!
Animal enrichment is a vital part of animal care.
Hay feeders are an important form of enrichment for bison, encouraging natural foraging behaviors while supporting overall herd health. By lifting feed off the ground, they help maintain cleaner conditions and reduce stress and competition during feeding time. Designed to mimic the dispersed grazing patterns bison experience in the wild, these feeders promote movement, social interaction, and more balanced access to food, all of which help create a more comfortable feeding experience. Feeders also encourage a slower rate of consumption, which helps improve digestion and prevents overeating.
