BREAKFAST WITH THE ANIMALS
Registration for Fall 2026 is now open!
Join us before the zoo opens to the public for a special Breakfast with the Animals or Coffee with the Critters program!
Each program starts in our Glacier Grille, before meeting the animal of the day and hearing from their keepers.
The light breakfast for Coffee with the Critters includes: a sliced fruit platter, an assortment of breakfast breads, muffins and donut holes, Greek yogurt bar, coffee, orange juice, and infused water.
The Breakfast with the Animals includes: sliced fruit, breakfast pastries, overnight oats, skillet potatoes, sausage links, build your own omelet, coffee, juice, and water.
Coffee with the Critters: Tortoises – After coffee and a light breakfast, learn about the multiple tortoise species we have living at HVZ. Then head to the Herpetarium for an up-close, behind the scenes encounter with our 500 lb giant Aldabra tortoises, Ricky and Tom, and learn how keepers take care of them every day. It will be a turtle-riffic time!

Coffee with the Critters: Camels – After coffee and a light breakfast, help us make some breakfast enrichment for some of the animals that live in our old barn, such as our camel and Somali wild asses. Go behind-the-scenes to see them enjoy their enrichment.

Breakfast with the Otters – Enjoy a hot breakfast, then learn about our otter family, make their daily enrichment, and then deliver their enrichment treat to them! It will be an otterly delightful time!
Offered on Sunday, October 4th
Breakfast with the Bison – Join the herd! Enjoy a hot breakfast, then go behind the scenes to meet our bison beauties: Wilma, Hazel, and Poppy. Learn about our herd and see what keepers do every day to take care of our bison.

Breakfast with the Otters – Enjoy a hot breakfast, then learn about our otter family, make their daily enrichment, and then deliver their enrichment treat to them! It will be an otterly delightful time!

Cost for Breakfast with the Animals: $45
Cost for Coffee with the Critters: $35
These programs are appropriate for everyone ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Pre-registration required.
