SANCCOB

Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB)

SANCCOB works to reverse the decline of wild seabird populations through the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of ill, injured, abandoned, and oiled seabirds-especially endangered species such as the African Penguin. They are an internationally recognized leader in response to oiled wildlife, seabird rehabilitation, and chick-rearing. Each year, SANCCOB rescues and rehabilitates in excess of 2400 injured, sick, or oiled seabirds.

Additionally, SANCCOB conducts research into seabird behavior, diseases, and other factors endangering their long-term survival.

Every October, we celebrate African Penguin Awareness Day to support SANCCOB and raise awareness of African Penguin conservation efforts.
